Spokane, WA – June 15, 2015 – Fatbeam, a competitive access provider, today announced an agreement with EMAN Networks to acquire 24.5 miles of metro fiber in the Spokane Valley. Fatbeam plans to connect EMAN’s fiber assets to its existing fiber network to provide dark fiber services to Spokane’s Central Valley School District. Fatbeam has entered into a long-term agreement with the Central Valley School District to deliver dark fiber services to its 24 school district facilities. With this addition, Fatbeam has 301 miles of fiber network connecting 23 markets in the Pacific Northwest.

”This agreement allows us to augment our already considerable network infrastructure in the greater Spokane Valley with our Liberty Lake, WA, and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho networks, which collectively will give over 100 miles of fiber in the region,” said Greg Green, President of Fatbeam. “In addition to the school district, our fiber network can help drive local economic development in our partner communities.”

“We are excited about the opportunities of working with Fatbeam as we move forward, and the advantages this working relationship will bring for the staff and students of CVSD. We look forward to working with a local company that puts the needs of the district first,” said Rob Curnow, Director of Technology, Central Valley School District.

Central Valley School District joins a growing list of Fatbeam customers in the Inland Northwest. Other districts served by Fatbeam in the Spokane region include the Coeur d’Alene School District, Post Falls School District, and the Medical Lake School District. The Central Valley School District spans an 80-square-mile area in the Spokane Valley and strives to ensure optimal learning opportunities for more than 13,000 students.

As the Northwest’s leading provider of dark fiber to rural and mid-sized communities, Fatbeam has made significant investments in the State of Washington. Fatbeam has constructed fiber networks in Centralia, Cowiche, Liberty Lake, Medical Lake, Moxee, Spokane, Sunnyside, Tacoma, Walla Walla, and Yakima. Most recently, the company announced an agreement with the city of Pasco to build a high-capacity fiber optic network and deliver dark fiber services to its 24 school district facilities. Last month, Green was invited to speak at an FCC workshop on the federal E-rate program in Washington D.C. To view the session, please visit https://www.fcc.gov/events/e-rate-fiber-build-workshop.
