IT, Networking and Telecommunications Expert to Reshape Key Company Functions
Coeur d’Alene, ID, September 1, 2020 — Jason Koenders has joined Fatbeam as the company’s first combined Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer. Koenders most recently consulted with multiple regional service providers in the western United States to increase scale, reliability and improve network efficiency while at Ciena; a leading networking systems, services and software company.
“Throughout Jason’s career he has shown both a comprehensive understanding of the evolving IT, technology and telecommunications space and an aptitude for building high-performing teams where he was admired as a leader and mentor,” said Paul Merritt, CEO, Fatbeam. “As we continue to evolve how we serve our customers and grow as an organization, he will be both a catalyst for the development of our team and a valued voice and resource for how we approach new markets and customers.”
As a network consultant for Ciena, Koenders was responsible for designing and proposing next generation network solutions that increased network capability while improving cost structure for both current and prospective Network Operators throughout the western United States. Prior to consulting, Koenders held several roles of increasing scope and responsibilities at Integra, where he ultimately rose to CTO and led its Technology organization as the largest regional Communications Service Provider in the Western United States. His leadership roles have spanned Sales, Operations, Network Operations, Engineering and Network Planning.
“Throughout my career I’ve been more drawn to the opportunities that a role provides, where I can directly contribute to the overall vision and elevate the team around me,” described Koenders. “Fatbeam, and this role specifically, are a perfect fit for me given my experience and desire to make a difference. I am intrigued and inspired by the vision of our leadership, our unique approach to doing business, and our commitment to serving customers more nimbly and effectively than the competition.”
Koenders has earned several awards and accolades for his contributions and achievements, both professional and personal, including an Army Achievement Medal.
Koenders joins the Fatbeam leadership team following several strategic steps the fiber internet and infrastructure provider has taken to grow and evolve its business this year, when it acquired Idaho-based Tek-Hut’s internet and WAN business and hired Todd Kerr as its Vice President of Enterprise Sales.
