Position Summary
The GIS Specialist is an expert in various specializations and their practical implementation. They must be able to interpret and analyze geographical information from different kinds of maps and data. The GIS Specialist responsibilities include creating, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting geographical information.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of maintaining Fatbeam fiber management inventory.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for users working with IQGeo, as well as associated software, procedures and associated geospatial data.
- Provide training and support for internal users.
- Maintain, enter, and manipulate data in various GIS systems (i.e., IQGeo, IQGeo, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Desktop, etc.)
- Review and solve problems using IQGeo and other GIS Software (i.e., ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, etc.)
- Review survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and other geographic data for consideration in designing FTTx projects
- Read and interpret underground and aerial telecom facilities records on hard copy and electronic maps.
- Analyze spatial data for geographical statistics to incorporate into documents and reports
- Developing superior cartographic products.
- Studying and examining attributed information wherever needed and enhancing the quality of data and the associated processes.
- Developing, altering, and pursuing information in support of all GIS related activities throughout the organization.
- Analyzing and explaining tabular charts and implementing advanced analytical tools
- Creating, implementing, and monitoring the methods and processes that are required for data driven processes.
- Structuring and helping the successful implementation of GIS related plans, programs, and actions
- Ability to integrate and analyze third party datasets.
- Developing map-based presentations for company-wide analysis and executive communication.
- Administrating the spatial information relative to the project team as per the standards of the company
- Ability to integrate, synthesize, and maintain where necessary files in AutoCAD and Google Earth format.
Education/Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelors in Geography, GIS, Computer Science or Engineering preferred
- A valid driver’s license required
Experience/Minimum Requirements
- 2+ years job related GIS experience.
- Advanced ESRI experience (Arcpro, ArcGIS Online, Survey123, Experience Builder)
- Advanced IQGeo Experience
- Experience in AutoCAD specifically AutoCAD Map 3D
- Experience in scripting languages (Python, SQL, Arcade)
- Fiber Management System experience
- 2-5 years’ experience working with the above.
- Preferred experience in OSP telecommunications, including experience with aerial and underground telecommunications.
- Minimal travel and overnight stays are required

Additional information
Fatbeam requires a background check and the acceptance of a basic non-compete documents for all employees. The background check takes 3-5 days. This offer would be pending upon the results of the background check. We will also need to confirm that your driving record will not prohibit us from adding you to our insurance policy for company vehicles.
