Position Summary

The position of the Network Engineer is to assists in the design, configuration, and overall support and maintenance of Fatbeams’ service provider network. Five or more years of experience in implementing, managing, or supporting Cisco and/or Juniper infrastructure is required. Experience with OSPF, MPLS technologies and BGP are required. Previous service provider experience is required. The position will be based out of the Tacoma WA area. This position reports to the VP of Networking Engineering & Operations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the organization’s mission statement and goals by providing the highest quality of service, treating each person professionally, with warmth, courtesy and respect, cross-selling additional services, and making a personal effort to make customers feel they belong and are important to Fatbeam
  • Has the ability to work with or create a network IP schema both IPv4 and IPv6
  • Configuration of network equipment to design specifications
  • Troubleshooting experience and ability to think around potential problems
  • Physical installation and testing of network equipment to design specifications
  • Effective communication with our project managers and customers during all phases of projects
  • Provides mentorship for less experienced members of the team
  • Completes documentation as the project progresses
  • Actively participates in internal and external meetings
  • Ability to support network on 24x7 as problems get escalated or upgrades needed
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed applicable
  • Regional travel at 20-30% overall is expected

Education and/or Experience, Certificates, Licenses Registrations

  • Required three (3) or more years of strong experience with installing, managing, and supporting Cisco and/or Juniper hardware network infrastructure in the service provider space
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in an IT related major is desired
  • Active CCNP or equivalent highly desired
  • CCNA or Network+ required

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Has the ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, timelines, correspondence, and other business documents such as proposals and design specifications
  • Effective written and verbal communications are an integral part of this position
  • Has the ability to lift to 30 pounds on a regular basis. This position requires the ability to sit or stand still for extended periods of time. Will be working in a Microsoft Office environment on a constant basis.
  • Superior technical skills, people skills and a great attitude are a must. Preference will be given to those with broad experience in implementing Cisco multi-service networks, dynamic routing protocols and MPLS experience.

Additional Information

Fatbeam requires a background check and the acceptance of a basic non-compete documents for all employees. The background check takes 3-5 days. This offer would be pending upon the results of the background check.
