Position Summary

The position of the Telecommunications Fiber Splicer would be to produce end-to-end fiber optic networks for Fatbeam. This position will report to our Construction Manager and the position would be based out of our Coeur d'Alene, ID office.

Position Responsibilities

  • Testing and troubleshooting continuity of fiber optic networks.
  • Creating sensors and performing inspections to make sure that the fiber optic systems do not have defects that could undermine performance.
  • Conducting regular inspections of the systems with the aim of locating and repairing any defects detected during the inspections.
  • Determining solutions to any problems and issues that are preventing the fiber optic systems from performing optimally.
  • Constructing a proper slice case as well as preparing and maintaining records, diagrams and schematics relating to the splice case.
  • Operate all testing equipment and be adept at resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks.
  • Experience prepping fiber splice.
  • Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels and dB loss.
  • Work in outdoor utility construction sites.

Education/Certifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
  • Fiber Optics Technician Certification a plus.
  • Must have a Class A CDL license - Clean driving record.
  • Safety certifications a plus.
  • Flagger Certified desirable for field work as needed.
  • Climbing Certification desirable.

Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience as a Fiber Splicer required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced high-volume work environment.
  • Be willing to travel.
  • Knowledge of transmission, and operation of telecommunications systems.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal skills.
  • Physically able and willing to climb (climbing certification desirable).
  • Lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
  • You are comfortable working on ladder &/or bucket truck.
  • You are flexible to work a variety of shifts with potential overtime.

Additional information

Fatbeam requires a background check and the acceptance of a basic non-compete documents for all employees. The background check takes 3-5 days. This offer would be pending upon the results of the background check.
